My Corny Day...

What a busy day! A friend of mine talked us into buying some corn from a farmer and I am talking a lot of corn! There are five of us who took on this project and together we ordered 4o dozen ears of corn. That was a full day of shucking, washing, boiling, cooling, cutting, bagging and cleaning up. We had so much fun and the payoff was big, but it was a long day! Here are some pics for you...

The Fruits of our Labor:

I know that it looks like I just stood around and took pictures, but I really did help a little during this process. We had a good time and the kids had fun playing together all day. Now we can have some corn on hand for this year. We froze it in the new Ziploc steamer bags so we can just throw a bag in the microwave when we want some corn for dinner. Overall, a very corny day...

Wow! You are just becoming Suzy Homemaker!! I sam SO proud of you! It really did look like fun and how neat to have so many of you do it together!! How many bags did each of you end up with? If you decide to do it again another year, let me know and I will find the recipe I gave grandma Wallace a few years ago that is absolutly wonderful. Her and Sharen and all of them LOVE it.

You are also posting fairly regularly. It's a nice surprise to open your blog and find a new post. Love MOM

Hi Kerri! I used to get together with friends and do applesauce. I do think doing it together is the best way. Can you believe our Moms used to can solo? How boring would that be? I love your blog. Our taste in music is pretty similar. I was singing that Billy Joel song this morning in the shower and look: there it is on your blog! I can't believe how big your kids are. It is unreal. It is a good thing WE are not getting any older.
I love you!

Wow! You guys are AMAZING! THat looks like quite the project, and what a sense of accomplishment you must have at the end. Very cool, wish I could have been there! I did 17 pints of salsa with my mother-in-law the other day and am soooo very excited about canning now... Stewed tomatoes are next week! yay!

How fun! And so YUMMY!!! I am jealous, I havent been able to freeze corn since we lived in Northern Idaho and had the garden. I miss it actually. Hope you enjoy your weekend and I will call you Monday to talk to you more than we were able to talk today hopefully.
